The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, accused of the murder of Super TV Chief Executive Officer, Michael Ataga, was once again delayed on Tuesday due to the absence of a prosecution witness.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the case could not go on due to the ill health of the ninth prosecution witness, DSP Olusegun Bamidele, who was to continue with his evidence.
Ojukwu is standing trial before a Lagos High Court at Tafawa Balewa Square, on a nine-count charge bordering on murder, theft and forgery.
She is charged alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu and one Adedapo Quadri.
On the last adjourned date, Dec. 7, the proceeding was also stalled due to the reported ill health of DSP Bamidele.
When the case was called on Tuesday, Mr Babatunde Busari, counsel to Quadri, told the court that the prosecution counsel, Mr Yusuf Sule, informed him that the witness was not fully recovered.
He, therefore, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable the witness be present in court to conclude giving his evidence.
After listening to the counsel, Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case until Jan. 24, 2024 for continuation of trial.
NAN reports that Ojukwu and the two others were arraigned on Oct. 12, 2021 by the Lagos State Government.
Ojukwu and Quadri, are facing the first to eight counts bordering on conspiracy, murder, and stabbing while her sister, Egbuchu, is facing the ninth count of stealing an iPhone 7 belonging to the late Ataga.

Problem it no the finish any day way you wake up just thanks God that said I am not in any bad condition
This is one area I’m having problem with Nigeria and her judiciary.
How many years will it take to administer justice in this case.
Before you know, everything about the case will be swept under the carpet.
This is money talking here maybe the witness has died or they have threaten her not to show face again
Everyone comes against laws should be detainend and arrested for that matter
na why we know like court cases most times because the take long time
nevertheless justice must be served irrespective of the amount of time the procedure takes
Whether the witness come now or not,Justice must take it course, and the killer must be brought to book.let this case serve as a lesson to others,so that this kind of a thing will not happen again
This the trail of this case is taking too long. The courts should expedite actions on the matter so as to bring this it to a logical conclusion. And so Nigerians will know where the pendulum of Justice swings.
Nowadays some people are heartless even when it comes to women matter
The case supposed to be investigated with an imidiate effect
Right of the people is a factor should be considered we want our right in niga
Whether the witness come now or not,Justice must take it course, and the killer must be brought to book.let this case serve as a lesson to others,so that this kind of will not happen again
What? Do you mean they have not delivered judgement since all these years? At the end of the day they will free, when some NGOs step into the matter.
Justice must be served the court should alway protect the rights of poor nigerian justice must prevail
