Brazil international, Bruno Guimaraes has the uncertainty surrounding his future with Newcastle United by signing a new long-term contract.
The 25-year-old who attracted fresh interest from the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid this summer, signed a deal that will run till 2028. This means he is firmly committed to the rejuvenated northeast club which made their return to the Champions League in midweek following a 20-year absence.
The new contract with Newcastle United which Bruno Guimaraes penned down his signature to, has a release clause in the region of £100m.
While that clause offers Newcastle a certain level of protection, it should be noted that the likes of Arsenal, who tried to sign the player back in January of last year, and Chelsea have both paid in excess of £100m for central midfielders this summer.
Guimaraes joined Newcastle in January 2022 and has gone on to become a key member of the team. He scored 10 goals in 63 appearances for Newcastle since his arrival and has played a major role as the club progressed from relegation contenders to Champions League qualifiers in little under 18 months.
The Brazil international’s performance has been below his usual level so far this season, but Eddie Howe will be hoping that the removal of uncertainty over his future will see a return to his very best.
The 25-year-old can operate at centre-back and slightly higher up in central midfield alongside his usual role sitting in front of the backline which makes sense as to why he’s so strong all over the pitch.
He will be next seen in action for the Magpies on Sunday, September 24, when they take on Sheffield United in the Premier League.

He deserves the offer because he is a good player. By now, the club has gained his stay by tying him down with the contract extension.
It actually a nice signing because I feel that Newcastle are ready to come out strong in this ucl so they try to put all effort to be productive in this competition and every other in as much is going to be glad for them because they will be fixtured in all games both domestic games to so the need the players to cover some leakages
