Gunmen abduct Kaduna village head’s wife and two children

There is growing anxiety in Galadimawa Village, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after bandits raided the community late Monday night, abducting the wife of the village head along with his two children.

According to local sources, the attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. The abducted victims have been identified as Fatima Aliyu, the village head’s wife, and his two sons, Abdullahi Aliyu and Kamal Aliyu.

The bandits, reported to be in large numbers, stormed the village while firing sporadically to disperse residents and create a path to the village head’s residence. Upon reaching the compound, the attackers broke through the wall to gain entry.

Hussaini Umar, a traditional leader and the Sarkin Fada of Galadimawa, confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning, expressing the community’s distress. “We are not safe here because the second wife of our Village Head, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna Galadimawa, and his two children were abducted around 11:30 p.m. by bandits who stormed his residence. As we speak, the whole community is confused and we need help,” he said.

Umar noted that the attackers appeared to have targeted the village head, as they were heard inquiring about his whereabouts. However, when they could not locate him, they resorted to abducting his second wife and their two children instead. The bandits thoroughly ransacked the house, even searching the ceiling in their effort to find the village head.

In the wake of the abduction, Umar called on the state government to deploy military forces to the area, emphasizing that the mobile police unit currently stationed in Galadimawa is inadequate to protect the community. “We are appealing to the authorities to save Galadimawa village from these bandits because we are tired of being abducted and attacked daily. Currently, about 20 surrounding villages have moved to Galadimawa due to insecurity, yet we are still not safe from the bandits,” he lamented.
