In a recent audio on YouTube, Pastor Daniel Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries outlined steps that, if followed, would ensure one remains entrenched in poverty.

His message emphasized practical and behavioral habits that contribute to financial stagnation.

Pastor Olukoya began by addressing the issue of laziness. He proposed that individuals who want to guarantee their financial downfall should develop “sleeping sickness.” This involves a lifestyle of excessive sleep, with no regard for early rising or productivity.

According to Olukoya, staying in bed all day, neglecting responsibilities, and avoiding early morning wake-up calls will lead to guaranteed poverty. Such habits prevent individuals from seizing opportunities and contributing meaningfully to their personal and professional growth.

He highlighted the dangers of being a “vagabond spender.” He advised against having any financial plans or budgets. Those who spend money impulsively without tracking their expenditures or managing their resources are at high risk of financial instability. He also described this behavior as a sure way to perpetuate poverty, as it results in living paycheck to paycheck and accumulating debt.

Number one: Develop sleeping sickness. Never wake up early. Keep stretching and turning in bed until you get too hungry to continue. Just stay in bed and keep sleeping; poverty will be guaranteed.

Number two: If you’re a vagabond spender, never plan how to spend your money. You get money and start spending it right away. When it is finished, start looking for more. Try to recall how you spent it, but you cannot. If you’re a vagabond spender, your poverty is assured.”
