AFCON Finalist Coach Hints At Exit From African Giants

The losing coach from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final has hinted that he could be leaving his post soon.

A coach from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final has claimed he could leave his position after the expiry of his contract later this month.

Prior to the commencement of the 2023 AFCON, Jose Peseiro was under tremendous pressure as Nigeria head coach following a run of poor results.

However, during the tournament in the Ivory Coast, his reputation grew as he led the Super Eagles to the final of the continental showpiece.

According to the Portuguese tactician, his exploits in west Africa now sees him fielding a host of offers, and while he did not disclose who they were from exactly, he did allude to the possibility of leaving the three-time African champions in the near future.

“I told everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching and I need to choose wisely,” Peseiro said, as per Complete Sports.

“At this moment, I repeat, all options remain possible. I received a lot of options, and a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs. I would say 5, 6 or 7.

“I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires, I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects. And decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.
