Mikel Arteta has hit back at rumours he could leave Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has responded to claims he will resign from his job at Arsenal at the end of the season after Jurgen Klopp recently announced he will leave Liverpool in June.

On Friday, the 56-year-old German tactician announced he will step down as Liverpool head coach in June.

Explaining his decision in an interview done with the club, Klopp declared he is “running out of energy” and that he believed it is the right time to move on after nine years in charge.

That news was followed by a report published by Spanish publication Sport, who claimed Arteta had informed people close to him that he is considering leaving the Gunners later this year.

This has led to rumours suggesting Barcelona could potentially pursue the Spaniard after Xavi Hernandez said this weekend that he will depart the Catalan club at the end of the season.

However, Arteta, who has a contract with the Premier League side until 2025, has now hit back at what he has called “fake news”.

“Totally fake news. I don’t know where it is coming from. It is totally untrue,” he said, according to Goal
