According to Radio MARCA, the Blaugrana have already begun their search for a new manager after Xavi’s decision to leave in June was confirmed.

Following the Catalan giants’ 5-3 defeat to Villarreal at home this past weekend, the Spaniard told members of the media that he will no longer serve the club on the touchlines beyond this campaign.

Club president Joan Laporta has publicly stated that he has accepted Xavi’s resignation, which came just a day after Jurgen Klopp informed the world that this will be his final season at Liverpool.

As per the abovementioned report, Laporta has reached out to former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard, who was the club’s first-team coach between 2003 and 2008, and who was both hired and later fired by the Spanish club chief.

Following a poor start to life at the Camp Nou, the Dutchman eventually turned things around and guided the club to five pieces of silverware in as many years, including two LALIGA titles and the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Rijkaard, now 61, has not worked in football since leaving the Saudi Arabia post in 2013, but is believed to have not closed the door on Laporta.
