Barcelona negotiate Greenwood transfer with Man Utd?

Mason Greenwood, Getafe, 2023/24

Rumours of a summer transfer for Mason Greenwood from Man Utd to Barcelona have been further fuelled after officials from both clubs met.

Greenwood has been increasingly linked with a summer move to Barcelona in recent weeks.

And on Monday, these rumours intensified after Manchester United officials John Murtaugh and Matt Hargreaves held a meeting with Barcelona transfer chief Deco.

The trio were filmed outside a restaurant in Barcelona together with two agents from the CAA Base agency, Frank Trimboli and Federico Massai.

The only Man Utd or Barcelona player that Base represent is Raphael Varane but it is considered highly unlikely that negotiations revolves around the Frenchman.

The most likely player in discussion according to reports in Spain was Greenwood, although Fabrizio Romano has denied they talked about the Englishman.

Greenwood to leave Man Utd?

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan last summer after Manchester United concluded their investigation into the criminal charges he was facing last year, which have since been dropped.

United announced that Greenwood would look to continue his career away from Old Trafford, having not played a game since January 2022 following his arrest by police.

New Man Utd part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed a few weeks ago that a decision has still not been made on whether to bring the on-loan Getafe attacker back to United at the end of the season.

Greenwood has impressed for Getafe. He has scored eight goals and got five assists in 26 games in all competitions.

But sentiment among fans and the public in England is still negative towards Greenwood, making it easier for him to continue his career outside of the country.
