CAF ‘Makes Decision’ On Ahly’s Request To Postpone CAFCL Match

CAF have reportedly answered Al Ahly’s request to have their next CAF Champions League match postponed.

CAF has reportedly come to a decision regarding Al Ahly’s request to postpone their upcoming fixture in the Champions League after encountering issues with their plane heading towards the match destination.

On Wednesday, the Club of the Century was unable to complete their trip to Kumasi ahead of their next continental clash against Ghanaian side Medeama SC.

The match is scheduled for Friday evening, but after Al Ahly’s plane was confronted with mechanical difficulties, the team had to land in Accra.

After this happened, the club submitted an official request to African football’s governing body to have the match postponed to a later date.

According to El Watan, however, CAF, after also consulting Medeama, decided against delaying the match for a later stage, justifying the decision by claiming that the complications with their aircraft were not sufficient enough to deter them from fulfilling their obligations to play the game.

The record African champions had to catch up their game in hand in the Champions League against CR Belouizdad last week after competing in the FIFA Club World Cup when it was originally supposed to take place.

While they may have been hoping CAF would be able to make another concession on their behalf, it seems they will have to honour their match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday evening.
