The Blue Sharks are perhaps one of the most in-form teams and they will come up against South Africa at the continental showpiece for the first time since 2013 when they face off in a massive encounter at the Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro in the capital of Ivory Coast.

Cape Verde boss Pedro ‘Bubista’ Brito was assistant coach when the two sides drew 0-0 in the group stages almost a decade ago, but ahead of their high stakes last eight encounter, the 54-year-old believes he his side can do one better as they do not fear the 1996 African champions.

“We are fit and well prepared as we can to realize victory; we took some rest and all the players are in good shape, we rested [enough],” the Boa Vista native told members of the media, as per Goal.

“To reach the semi-final, we need to work well and unite as a team. We can only win if we work together as a team. We have a good mindset in the squad, good morale, and support too; because of that, we’ll do all we can to bring more joy to the country.

“No we are not scared, we’re not scared at all, there’s no fear. We have the experience… we’ve played South Africa before and defeated them,” he added.
