Chelsea Striker ‘Set To Join’ Lyle Foster’s Burnley


Lyle Foster of Burnley is reportedly set for new competition in the team.

South African striker Lyle Foster could be set for some serious competition as Burnley have reportedly agreed a deal to sign a Chelsea forward.

It has been a difficult camaign for both teams, as Chelsea sit 10th on the Premier League after 20 games played, while Burnley find themselves in 19th threatened with relegation.

No new arrivalas have been confirmed at Stamford Bridge as yet, but the club have sanctioned a few departures recently.

On Thursday it was confirmed that Dutch star Ian Maatsen has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until June 2024, which is just days after he penned a contract extension until 2027 including a release clause.

Coincidently, Maatsen played for Burnley in the Championship last term and he said to have rejected the opportunity to return to the side on loan.

However, another Chelsea player is set to join the Clarets on loan, as they hope to stay up for another season.

According to The Athletic’s David Orstein, an agreement has been reached for the short-term transfer of David Datro Fofana.

The Ivorian centre-forward will spend the rest of the season at Turf Moor after he was recalled from his loan stint at Union Berlin. It is said that ther will be no buy option, as the Blues only want their player to get Premier League experience.

The report indicates that the 21-year-old will complete his medical on Saturday and 100% of his salary will be covered by Vincent Kompany’s side.

Fofana will rival Foster for the position, with the Bafana Bafana star continuing to make headlines due to his impending absence from the Africa Cup of Nations.
