Egypt Legend: Trezeguet Is More Important Than Salah

Three-time Africa Cup of Nations winner Wael Gomaa claims that Trezeguet is more important for Egypt than captain Mohamed Salah.

The Pharaohs scrapped into the round of 16 despite not winning any of their group stage encounters.

Salah did not feature in the final game after picking up an injury against Ghana last week and he is unlikely to return until the semi-finals.

Gomaa has now reserved some special praise for Trezeguet who was on target against Mozambique.

“Congratulations on the national team’s qualification. The players’ reaction was apparent in the second half.

“Trezeguet, Mostafa Mohamed, Marwan Ateya, Emam Ashour, and Omar Marmoush are the reason for Egypt’s qualification.

“Trezeguet is the most important player in the Egyptian national team in recent years, more important than Mohamed Salah in terms of performance, impact, and the team’s results.

“Salah deserves all respect, but Trezeguet has been overlooked. Look at his impact since he started coming on from the bench.

“Trezeguet gives you a sense of spirit, manhood, boldness, and belonging to the Egyptian national team. The second goal by Mostafa Mohamed was a goal created out of nothing, and every ball that goes to Trezeguet makes you feel the danger.

“He is an indispensable player for the Egyptian national team, and it is not right to have a player with such capabilities on the bench.”
