FIFA Punish World Champs Argentina & Brazil!


Brazil and Argentina have been fined by FIFA.

FIFA have imposed serious punishment on both the Argentina and Brazil national teams after the two nations were found to have breached regulations.

On Wednesday, the world football organising body charged the two South American giants with fines for “failure to ensure that law and order are maintained” in the stadium.

The sides met in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers  in November, however, things quickly became ugly as a brawl in the crowd between the opposing fans ensued, forcing the match to be delayed by almost 30 minutes.

Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi led his players off the field during the incident until order was restored.

According to ESPN, the discplinary panel at FIFA have fined Brazil 50 000 Swiss francs (R1 million) for failing to ensure that law and order are maintained at their stadium. Argentina, on the other hand, were slapped with a 20 000 Swiss francs (R437 674) fine for “lack of order or discipline in or around the stadium.”

The reigning world champions were also ordered to spend an additional 50 000 Swiss francs on anti-discrimination education projects due to misconduct by their fans at two previous World Cup qualifying games.

Argentina won the encounter though, claiming a 1-0 victory to hand Brazil their first-ever home loss in World Cup qualifying.

A statement by the Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) posted on their official website confirmed: “Dorival Júnior is the new coach of the Brazilian Men’s National Team.

“The press conference with the coach will be held this Thursday (11), at 3 pm, at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro.”
