Firmino Linked With Surprise EPL Return

Roberto Firmino is reportedly already looking for an exit route from Saudi Arabia, with a Premier League club interested in his services.

Six months after leaving Liverpool for the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Brazil striker Roberto Firmino is reportedly already keen on a move away, with a number of English clubs said to be interested.

The 2022/23 campaign marked the end of the Maceio native’s eight-year stay at Anfield as he left the Reds as a free agent to join Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahli.

The 32-year-old enjoyed an illustrious spell playing under Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside as he managed to triumph in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with the Reds.

While his time in the Saudi Pro League got off to a blistering start, bagging a hat-trick on his debut against Al Hazem, the 55-cap Brazil international has not scored a goal since.

Couple that with the tragic loss of his father in November 2023, and Firmino has seemingly struggled to adapt to life in Jeddah.

According to talkSPORT, Firmino is looking to leave as a consequence of his struggles and is attracting interest from the Premier League, mainly Fulham.

Sheffield United were also said to be keen on the unconventional striker when Paul Heckingbottom was still in charge, but it is now believed that the west Londoners are the most eager on acquiring his services.

Like Firmino, Marco Silva’s star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic bid farewell to the Premier League for Saudi Arabia last year when he joined Al Hilal.

Fulham having been struggling for goals ever since the Serbian’s departure, the Portuguese could look to bring in Firmino in a bid to off-set Mitrovic’s exit.
