The former Barcelona forward has become somewhat of a divisive figure since being named president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

In recent months, the three-time UEFA Champions League winner is alleged to have been involved in multiple misconducts in his role, with The Athletic reporting in January that the organisation’s former vice-president, Henry Njalla Quan Junior, took the issue to FIFA.

Among the accusations levelled against him, Eto’o is alleged to been involved in match-fixing and the spreading of false information, as well inciting violence and a general abuse of power.

CAF later announced they would be looking into the allegations against Cameroon’s all-time leading goalscorer, which has seemingly not gone down well with the former striker.

In an interview with France24 this week, the 42-year-old said he has ordered his legal team to make an official complaint against African football’s governing body.

“I was never questioned about what I was accused of. I therefore instructed my lawyers to file a complaint against the CAF and to establish responsibilities,” he said.

“It was too easy to tarnish everything I had built during these few years in the world of football. CAF launched a press release much too early. This is unacceptable behaviour.”
