Haaland’s Agent ‘Holds’ Meeting With Barca Chief

Erling Haaland’s agent was seen in a meeting with Barcelona sporting director Deco, in which the striker’s future is believed to have been discussed.

A Barcelona chief and Erling Haaland’s representative are reported to have held a meeting to discuss the forward’s potential future arrival in Spain.

Footage released by Jijantes shows the Blaugrana’s sporting director, Deco, meeting with the Norwegian’s super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, and it is believed the superstar forward’s future was on the agenda.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a possible move to Spain since his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Real Madrid have been touted as the most probable destination for the striker should he move to the Iberian Peninsula, but it now appears Barca want to steal a march on their bitter rivals in the race for the Scandinavian.

It is said signing Haaland is a big dream for Barca president Joan Laporta, but with the Manchester City forward on a contract that runs until 2027 and on reported wages of £375 000 (R9.1 million) a week, a move during the off-season seems unlikely.

Reports in Spain have, however, indicated that the Norway international has a release clause of £171.6 million (R4.1 billion), which kicks in at the end of the season and decreases with each passing window.

The LALIGA champions are believed to still be in the midst of some serious financial strife, though, and so will likely be hoping Haaland runs his City contract down to the point where the Spaniards can trigger said release clause in the future.
