Inter Miami finalizing Federico Redondo signing from Argentinos Juniors

Inter Miami are finalizing the transfer of Federico Redondo from Argentinos Juniors.

The MLS club are close to reaching an agreement that will see the 21-year-old move to Miami.

Redondo is expected to serve as a season-ending injury replacement under the under-22 initiative for Inter Miami midfielder Facundo Farias, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a pre-season opener against El Salvador in January.

Earlier this week, Argentinos Juniors president Cristian Malaspina said: “An improved formal offer came from Inter Miami for Redondo.

“If the offer is close to what we ask for, it would be an important sale for the club and for the player.

“Argentinos Juniors would keep 15 per cent of a future sale.”

A number of European clubs were thought to be monitoring Redondo, including AC Milan.

Redondo – the son of former Real Madrid and Milan midfielder Fernando Redondo and grandson of ex-Argentina international Jorge Solari, joined the youth system of Argentinos Juniors aged 10 and made his first-team debut in 2022.

The defensive midfielder has featured in 59 first-team matches, including seven of their Copa Libertadores matches in 2023.

Redondo has been capped at youth level by Argentina and helped the nation’s under-23 side qualify for this summer’s Olympics in the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic tournament.
