Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has criticised Manchester United for their decision to end Sergio Reguilon’s loan move during the January transfer window.
The Spaniard joined Man Utd on a season-long loan deal last summer, but it was cut short in January, with Reguilon sent back to Tottenham Hotspur before joining Brentford on another loan move.
However, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are now both injured and Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat have been forced to fill in at left-back in recent weeks.
As a result, the Red Devils have missed Reguilon since his departure, something Agbonlahor was keen to point out to TalkSPORT (via CaughtOffside). The ex-Aston Villa forward said: “Letting Reguilon go was a mistake, wasn’t it?
“You have got Lindelof playing there. He could do a job, but that could cost you in the last 10 games. Injuries have been a big problem, haven’t they?”

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag is also angered by the left-back crisis at Old Trafford. He recently admitted: “In December, I had the talks internally, with the medical and performance [departments].
“They assured me they will both be fit in January and so you will have two left full-backs. Then you have a third one [Reguilon], so I would always have to disappoint one full-back.
“We talk about one of my biggest frustrations, there. You can accept in a position that a player is not available, but when two players are not available over the course of the season, that is very frustrating, because that is also very difficult to catch up as a team.
“We dealt with it in the best way, but of course it is a disadvantage.
“In our left full back position, we’ve had two injuries almost over the whole course of the season. I think Liverpool is a good example. Last year they had the same and they couldn’t deal with it as well.”
