Morocco ‘Suffer’ Major Blow Ahead Of Bafana Clash

Hakim Ziyech might miss Morocco’s AFCON clash against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

One of Morocco’s biggest names could reportedly miss their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 clash against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

According to KingFut, the Atlas Lions could be without star winger Hakim Ziyech when they take on South Africa this week.

It is believed the former Ajax Amsterdam man, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Chelsea, has missed more than one training session in the build-up to the encounter due to ankle issues.

The 30-year-old scored in his country’s 1-0 win over Zambia in their final Group F match last week, but completed only 45 minutes due to the knock he picked up.

The news will be welcomed by South African fans considering Ziyech is one of Morocco’s more established footballers, having netted on 22 occasions in 58 international appearances to date.

However, the north African giants will still likely be thought of as favourites to advance from their last 16 clash on Tuesday following their history-making showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
