Morocco have received a big boost ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations Last 16 clash against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

The 2022 World Cup semi-finalists will lock horns against the South Africans, who they faced the Afcon qualifiers.

Atlas Lions coach Walid Regragui was supposed to miss the match after being suspended after a heated exchange with DR Congo captain Chancel Mbemba last weekend.

However, Morocco appealed the ban and have since seen the punishment wiped away, meaning the coach will be on the touchline on Tuesday.

“The Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football cancelled the punishment that the Disciplinary Committee had previously issued against the national coach, Mr Walid Regragui, including the financial fine, after hearing the arguments of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation,” said the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in a statement.

“The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football had suspended Mr Walid Regragui for four matches, two of which were suspended, in light of the events that accompanied the end of the match that brought together the national team and its counterpart, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for the second round of Group F in the African Cup of Nations competition hosted by Ivory Coast until February 11, 2024.”

Bafana secured a 2-1 win when these two sides met in their final AFCON qualifier in Johannesburg, but the Atlas Lions remain one of the favourites for the title.
