On Wednesday, the 39-year-old attended a hearing following his actions in Al Nassr’s 3-2 away victory over Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was seen gesturing towards his private parts after scoring a goal, believed to be in response to Al Shabab supporters chanting Lionel Messi’s name in his direction.

A statement confirmed the ex-Manchester United No. 7 will be suspended for one game and will need to pay a fine of 30 000 Saudi Riyals (R153 000) in total.

Al Jazeera reports that 10 000 Saudi Riyals (R51 000) will be paid to Saudi Arabia’s federation and 20 000 Saudi Riyals (R102 million) to Al Shabab, which will cover the club’s complaint fees.

In addition, the federation made it clear that its ruling will not be subject to appeal.

It is furthermore said that Ronaldo defended his actions, saying his behaviour was “not disgraceful” and that “we are accustomed to it in Europe”.
