The Saudi Pro League side will take on the David Beckham-owned Herons in a friendly tournament on Thursday at 20:00 South African time.

The match has been billed as “the last dance” between Inter Miami’s captain Messi and Al Nassr’s skipper Ronaldo, but fans attending the game will likely be disappointed with the latest news.

On Wednesday night, the Saudi team’s head coach Luis Castro confirmed that the ex-Real Madrid talisman has not recovered from a calf injury in time to be available for the game.

“We will not see (Messi vs Ronaldo), Ronaldo is in the final part of his recovery to join the group,” he said, according to Goal

“We hope that in the next few days he can start working with the team. He will be absent from the game.”

With the SPL having been on a break while the Asian Games are ongoing, the club hopes the 38-year-old will return in time when it resumes in February.
