This week, reports across Europe suggested the 25-year-old is closing in on a free-agent move to Los Blancos.

Mbappe went close to joining the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners in 2022 before surprisingly committing to new terms in Paris.

With January having arrived, the France captain has just six months remaining on his contract at PSG and will be free to leave the club in June should he decide against a renewal.

Last year, the forward informed the Ligue 1 champions he will not be extending his stay beyond 2024, leaving president Nasser Al-Khelaifi incensed.

Mbappe was subsequently exiled from first-team duties at PSG, but was later brought back into the senior group to start working under Luis Enrique.

While his future remains unresolved, Al-Khelaifi has said he and Mbappe are on the same page.

“I have a gentleman agreement with Kylian Mbappe,” he told RMC Sport.

“It’s between Kylian and me so I won’t comment about money or details. I have very good relationship with him. But this agreement is between us and it will stay between us.”
