TP Mazembe coach Lamine Ndiaye admits his side were dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns as they lost out on top spot in Group A of the CAF Champions League.

The Brazilians finished top of the group of securing a 1-0 win at the Lucas Moripe Stadium thanks to Peter Shalulile’s first-half penalty.

It was a particularly difficult clash for the Congolese giants, who only threatened Ronwen Williams’ goal in the latter stages of the second half.

“We didn’t play our game at all. We were dominated and I think the players showed too much respect,” Ndiaye said, as per CAF.

“We could have scored but we were not too good in being aggressive and playing our game.”

As a result, Mazembe have finished second in Group A and will now possibly come up against defending champions Al Ahly, ASEC Mimosas or Petro du Luanda in the next round.

Sundowns, meanwhile, can be draw against Simba SC, Esperance or Young Africans in the quarter-finals.

CAF are yet to confirm the date for the quarter-final draw.
