Wydad Boss ‘Loses’ Temper After Derby Loss To Zinnbauer


Wydad Athletic Club boss Faouzi Benzarti was reportedly extremely frustrated with his players after they lost the latest Casablanca derby.

Newly appointed Wydad Athletic Club head coach Faouzi Benzarti was reportedly left fuming with his players after they lost the latest Casablanca derby to Josef Zinnbauer’s Raja Club Athletic.

It has not been a happy return to the Red Castle for the Tunisian tactician, having now suffered a major setback in losing to their arch-rivals on Thursday evening.

An own goal from Hicham Ait Brayem in the second half was compounded by Mohamed Zrida’s 65th minute strike as Zinnbauer’s charges not only maintained their unbeaten streak against the record Botola Pro champions, but also in the league in 2023/24.

According to Le Site Info Sport, Benzarti was visibly disappointed by his team’s display as he went from angry to dejected as he watched the game transpire.

The 74-year-old is said to have entered the dressing room after full-time and expressed his discontent with his team’s display, before he suddenly lost his temper with the players and exploded. It is claim he then regained his composure before leaving the room.

Benzarti’s reappointment as Wydad boss has not had the desired effect the club’s chiefs wished for as he has managed just one win in his first five games back in Morocco.

Wydad’s latest defeat leaves the three-time African champions seven points off joint leaders Raja, whose German tactician is looking to end their four-year wait for a league title.
